about US

North Atlantic Producers Organization pursues fishing operations under the Polish flag in the North Atlantic area, in West Africa and South Pacific. It is the first organization of fishery producers in Poland, recognized by Polish authorities and the European Commission.

North Atlantic Producers Organization (NAPO) was created in 2003 by Polish companies conducting fishing operations in North Atlantic – NAFO and NEAFC areas, in the Fishery Protection Zone around Svalbard, also in the West Africa - Morocco and Mauritania waters and in the South Pacific – SPRFMO area.
For years we have been cooperating with many national, European and international organizations to help our operators to achieve Common Fishery Policies goals as well as to conduct rational and sustainable fishing operations.

Our Organization is a member of EAPO - The European Association of Fish Producers Organisations and Europêche – Association of National Organisations of Fishing Enterprises in the EU. We participate in the working group of the EU, NAFO, NEAFC, SPRFMO and other branch organisations including organisations preventing IUU fishing. NAPO represents Polish high-sea fisheries in the North Sea Advisory Council (NSAC), in the Pelagic Advisory Council (Pelagic AC) and in the Long Distance Fleet Advisory Council (LDAC).

NAPO regularly acts to promote the viable and sustainable fishing activities of its members. We also undertakes activities to assure stable employment of fishermen as well as to ensure safety, traceability and high quality of fishery products produced on our members’ vessels.

In addition is worth mentioning that a large part of fish caught by our members are sold on the African market. The total annual quantity of fishery products sold there corresponding to approximately 300 million protein-rich meals.

We also cooperate with the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute (MIR-PIB) in Gdynia through supporting scientific research projects in the North Atlantic, whose goals include: rational managing of fish resources, sea environmental protection and creating of the quality management systems.

COLD STORE „DEEP SEA FISHING PORT GDANSK”

Beside our constant involvement in the sustainable fishery activity, NAPO also undertakes actions aimed on establishing a distribution centre of fishery products dedicated for final consumers as well for processing industry. The above mentioned aim was direct reason of delivering in 2014 at the entrance to the inner port of Gdansk a cold store facility. The investment was co-financed under Measure 3.3, Priority Axis 3 of the Operational Programme "Sustainable Development of the Fisheries Sector and Coastal Fishing Areas 2007-2013”. Thanks to the wise approach and dedicated investments strategic development programme the importance of the cold store in CEE Europe supply chain of high quality fishery products is growing.

The above mentioned has been confirmed by several independent audits conducted under the requirements of following norms: ISO 9001, MSC/ASC CoC, IFS Log, BRCGS S&D, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and SMETA 4 pillar. Moreover thanks to advanced construction supported by dedicated Warehouse Management System (WMS), we ensure full traceability of the stored cargo.
